SEX/NUDITY 2 - A couple of kisses and sexual innuendoes. A woman and her husband are kissing in bed (it appears to be foreplay); he's bare-chested and she's in a camisole.

VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - A woman is raped and murdered: we see a man choking her, thrusting as he rapes her, hitting her and slamming her face into a glass table (afterwards we see her bloody, lifeless body). We see brief images of a man choking a girl, raping her (no nudity, but thrusting is seen), hitting her and throwing her around while she screams. A man is shot; we see bloody bullet holes and his lifeless body. A man beats another and threatens him with a gun. We see a man bringing an ice sculpture down on a girl's head. We briefly glimpse photos of a corpse. A scuffle between two men.

LANGUAGE 6 - About 10 F-words, many anatomical references, some scatological references and many mild obscenities.

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Random violence, vigilante justice, incompetent law enforcement and court system, obsession, the loss of a child.

MESSAGE - Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. We can't always trust society to protect us from crime and evil.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
