"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME

Chasing Liberty | 2004 | PG-13 | - 4.3.4

The U.S. President's 18-year-old daughter (Mandy Moore) cannot stand the oppressive state of her personal life. Dates end up with Secret Service personnel wrestling young men to the ground, and although she is never alone, she is very lonely. So, she embarks on a whirlwind tour of Europe in the company of a dashing British man (Matthew Goode) who may not be exactly who she thinks. And despite her father's (Mark Harmon) wishes she is headed for Berlin's "Love Parade." Also with Jeremy Piven and Annabella Sciorra. Directed by Andy Cadiff. [1:48]

SEX/NUDITY 4 - A young woman takes off her clothes to swim nude in a river (we see her bare buttocks in shadow and a glimpse of the side of her bare breast). A young man is shown in boxer shorts (he's bare-chested) and a young woman is covered to the shoulders by a sleeping bag (it is suggested that they have had sex). A young woman comes into a room with a towel wrapped around her, a young man in the room takes off his shirt (we see him bare-chested) and begins to unfasten his pants but stops; the young woman takes off her towel (we see her bare back) and the young man looks at her and covers her back. Many people dance in a nightclub scene: we see women scantily clad in bikini tops and short pants, and men are bare-chested. Many people dance at a rally: we see women scantily clad in bikinis, and men are bare-chested. A young man and a young woman kiss in several scenes, a man and a woman kiss in a few scenes, and another man and a woman kiss. A man kisses a woman on the neck, a young woman kisses a young man on the cheek, and a young man kisses a young woman's hand. A man caresses a woman's thigh in a play. A young man and a young woman hold each other close when they bungee jump together. Women wear low-cut evening gowns that reveal cleavage, bare backs and shoulders. A young woman's top slips up revealing her bare abdomen. A young woman changes her clothes in front of a mirror: some outfits reveal cleavage, some reveal her bare abdomen, and some bare shoulders. Two young men hold a young woman by the arms and walk with her while making sexual remarks. A man makes several suggestive sexual remarks to a woman such as "I'd like to reset your clock," a man tells a woman to "strip naked," a woman says to a man "...give me some of that hard hat," a man describes a peace rally as an "orgy," a young man asks a young woman if she's "ever made slow love," and a man asks a young woman to join him for sex (she declines). A young woman has a pierced tongue and begins to describe how it can enhance sexual experiences, but is interrupted before she gives any details. A man and a woman flirt. A young woman rests her head on a man's shoulder, a woman sleeps with her head on a man's lap, and a young man and a young woman hold hands. A young woman dances alone in her room.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A young woman is surrounded by young men who tease and goad her, she tries to get away and is held by two other young men who begin to tease her as well and make sexual remarks. A young man throws a bottle at a tree; the bottle shatters and the contents spray onto a young woman. A young woman climbs on a roof, grabs onto a pipe that breaks loose, she slips back down the roof and is stopped before falling off. A young man jumps off a theater balcony into a crowd of people below (they catch him). A young man and a young woman on a moped are chased by a car through narrow streets. A young man reaches into his jacket pocket, and he and his companions are restrained and pulled away by many Secret Service people. People bungee jump off a high bridge. CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
