"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME

Can't Hardly Wait | 1998 | PG-13 | - 4.2.6

Recent high school graduates break up, make up, hook up and live it up at a wild post-ceremony party. With Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ethan Embry, Charlie Korsmo, Lauren Ambrose, Peter Facinelli, Seth Green, Joel Michaely, Jay Paulson and Michelle Brookhurst. [1:40]

SEX/NUDITY 4 - Lots of sexual innuendo. Kissing (often passionately); in one scene, a boy licks a girl's neck before kissing another girl. We see a shirtless man lying on top of a girl in a bra (it's implied that they have sexual intercourse); we later see them lying together (covered with towels) and getting dressed. A boy holding packages of condoms in his mouth looks through a book of sexual positions (we don't see any nudity in the pictures) and appears to be practicing them by himself (we see him in a few positions, moving rhythmically). While they're dancing closely, we see a boy rubbing a woman's bare thigh while her leg is wrapped around his thigh. Two boys undress two unconscious boys down to their boxers and arrange them in an embrace before taking many pictures. A girl lifts up her shirt and flashes her breasts at a boy (we only see her bare back). We see a scantily clad woman on the cover of a magazine and many girls in short skirts and cleavage- and midriff-revealing tops; we also see a little bit of a woman's bra and panties under a slightly open robe.

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A boy shoves a girl and three boys shove each other. Two boys jump from a roof and tackle two others; rags doused in chloroform are held to their faces and we see them lose consciousness. We see and hear a boy urinating.

LANGUAGE 6 - 1 F-word, lots of anatomical references, several scatological references, lots of mild obscenities, many insults and one racial slur. We also see an obscene finger gesture.

DISCUSSION TOPICS - High school, relationships, break-ups, pretending to be someone you're not, drinking, popularity, lust, unrequited love, revenge.

MESSAGE - High school can be fun or hellish, depending on how popular you are and what clique you're in. Fortunately for most, there's a better, happier life after graduation.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
